Jean-Michel Jarre & TheWaveVR
I am thrilled to announce my partnership with TheWaveVR. TheWaveVR is the world’s first social VR platform and community that provides new ways to experience, create, and share music and visual arts. The team has partnered with incredibly talented comic book illustrator and digital artist SUTU who has created bespoke 3D artwork inspired by ‘Equinoxe Infinity’ for the partnership. Users will be able to incorporate these images, featuring the ‘Watchers’, into their live shows in order to create reality bending, audio reactive environments.
Mark December 12th in your calender, where I will be hosting a one-off Q&A in TheWave.
Check thewavevr.com for more info.
SUTU performs two virtual reality concerts in tribute to Equinoxe Infinity.
One this Saturday at 7 pm PT, and another on Wednesday December 12 at 3 pm CET.
(JMJ will appear as an avatar in TheWaveVR at 4 pm CET to answer questions and chat with fans)
The music of the album Equinoxe Infinity and the “Watchers” visuals made by SUTU are available in TheWaveVR for fans to host their own concerts in virtual reality.
TheWaveVR is a social music platform. It’s free to download for owners of a PC gaming laptop and a VR headset (Oculus Rift or HTCVive).
When a user opens the app for the first time, they will be in their Home Cave – their home base in TheWaveVR. Their Home Cave includes virtual DJ decks and a “Wavemaker” show builder that lets them add visuals to their Home Cave. Within this Wavemaker, the SUTU visuals can be pulled in along with lasers and other special VFX. Users can then “open the Home Cave” to visitors and thereby, host parties for others to participate.
These kinds of community-run parties happen every night of the week!
How do I see the virtual reality concerts?
To be part of these shows in VR, you need a virtual reality headset (Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Windows Mixed Reality) and a PC capable of running virtual reality.
The specs for your machine are:
- OS: Windows 10
- Processor: 3GHz Multicore
- Memory: 8 GB RAM
- Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 970/AMD R9 290
- Storage: 17 GB available spaceTheWaveVR is free to download from Steam or Oculus stores
If you do not have a headset, but you do have a Windows-enabled computer, you can test out TheWaveVR’s desktop app (which is in pre-release beta and not yet officially launched). This lets you interact and attend Wave shows without a headset and simply your keyboard and mouse! You can follow the instructions for the desktop app here: [Link]
Assuming you have one of the above options, you can enter the SUTU Presents: Jean-Michel Jarre Equinoxe Infinity shows by teleporting into the SUTU show poster at the show start time. (In the Desktop App Beta, you do this by clicking with your mouse on the poster.)
The two shows will be LIVE and are: Saturday, December 8, 7 pm PT Wednesday, December 12, 3 pm CET
If you don’t have a headset nor a Windows-enabled computer, no worries!
TheWaveVR will live stream both concerts at facebook.com/TheWaveVR and we will cross-post the live videos to facebook.com/jeanmicheljarre.
I am in the Jean-Michel Jarre Q&A in TheWaveVR, but I don’t see him…
Instances in TheWaveVR are limited to 35 players “per room.” Jean-Michel Jarre will be in The Expanse, TheWaveVR’s social lobby. Anytime an instance in TheWaveVR fills to over 35 people, it spawns a new instance with other players. It’s a bit luck of the draw! We plan to record and share back the Q&A as well.
