Jarre Live / Destination Docklands

On 8 and 9 October 1988 Jarre played the Royal Victoria Docks in London, with a stage floating in the middle of the water and around 100,000 people on each night.

It was the first time the Docklands and the Thames had been used this way. The show was conceived as a history of the area — the Industrial Revolution, the Swinging Sixties, and the regeneration then underway — with entire buildings used as projection screens, wartime searchlights sweeping the sky and fireworks over the dock. Hank Marvin of The Shadows joined Jarre on "London Kid" and "Fourth Rendez-Vous". Heavy rain and high winds battered the set both nights.

The concerts coincided with the release of Revolutions, and the setlist leans on it, running through the new material alongside pieces from across the back catalogue.

Two live albums came out of the event. Jarre Live appeared on 2 October 1989 on Disques Dreyfus, running about 54 minutes. Destination Docklands: The London Concert covers the same nights with a longer tracklist, and has since been reissued remastered.
